India Drew with Netherlands 2-2 in Punjab Gold Cup Hockey

Indian field hockey team drew 2-2 with Netherlands in a group stage match of Punjab Gold Cup Hockey tournament. Netherlands twice took lead in the match, but India came back on both occasions, but the man for whom India could save defeat was goalkeeper Baljit Singh who saved denied the visiting side a number of goals throughout the match.

Jeroen Hertzberger put Netherlands ahead with his 32nd-minute goal. However, India equalized soon after the first half thanks to Shivender Singh who scored from a Vikram Pillai pass. In the 50th minute, the Dutch side took lead once again in the match with Geert-Jan Derikx scoring the second goal. Six minutes later Prabhjot Singh equalized for India. Netherlands had some real chances towards the end of the match, but the excellent goalkeeping by Baljit confirmed a point for India from the match. With this draw, both India and Netherlands are very close to clinch a spot in the tournament final.
